Girlfriends' Night Out Party & Trunk Shows

There are days when I have too many things to say - and so I don't blog, because I don't know where to begin. Then there are days when I know it is just best to keep my mouth shut, because someone can say it more eloquently than me. Today is one of those days. Cory at Sweet Petula has a way with words, (and displays, and soaps, and ...). Anyway, we are both participating in the Girlfriend's Night Out Party at Capers on Thurs. 10/22 - and her blog says it all - so read it here.

I'll shut up now.

Ok, one last thing. Northwest Hope & Healing is a charity with a heart. They support women going through chemotherapy for breast cancer with non-medical expenses (think transportation to appts., childcare, food, money, ...). AND, as if that is not enough, they offer Healing Baskets (free of charge) to women going through chemo for the first time. The baskets contain all the "essentials" to help get through therapy - things like herbal tea, hard candy, lotion, teddy bear, and notes of encouragement. Things that you don't realize are so vital unless you have eperienced chemo yourself. The Party Thurs. night is a fund raiser for them - $20 suggested donation, the store will donate $$, the vendors will donate, there will be lots of very grateful women!

Monsoon in Port Townsend - you've gotta see it to believe it!

So I drove up to Port Townsend yesterday to deliver an order of scarves to Monsoon. I've spoken to Kim, the owner, a few times, but this is the first time I've seen the store (and Port Townsend for that matter). I must say I was floored. Monsoon sells eco-friendly, sustainable, fair trade goods. But just not your ordinary efsftg's - really cool ones! Kim does a great job seeking out fashionable, stylish efsftg's! There are housewares, shoes, clothing, jewelry, accessories, kids things, - and more. I could've spent a few hours shopping there had the store not been closed (yes, Kim takes Tues. off). I guess I will just have to plan a shopping trip to Port Townsend soon... honey, can I borrow your credit card?

West Seattle is the place to be!

Capers in West Seattle is once again carrying Haute Goat scarves! We had a short run last year - just starting after Thanksgiving. This year we are starting early, and the scarves are already getting all kinds of attention! I hadn't even finished unpacking the suitcase, and there were already 2 buyers picking out the scarves they wanted!

Watch out, I think they are going fastttttttttttt....

And while you're there, check out the cool B&W artwork by Jen Ament - you know how much I love b&w artwork - and linocuts!

And then there are these AWESOME floating candles that look like beach glass... And the tea towel with a fish on it? I was thinking that would be the new screen printed scarf design, until Mary said people don't really wear fish prints in the winter - and I visualized frozen fish prints, which led to frozen crab leg prints...

Extraordinaire is extraordinaire!

I just took an order over to Issaquah. Extraordinaire is in Gilman Village. Yes, if you were there a couple of years ago, it was a ghost town. That is no longer so! The village has been revived and is beaming with life. It's a great shopping desitination if you are looking for quaint independent boutiques. Extraordinaire is an art store - with everything from paintings to glass art to wearable art.

Napa Valley goest haute!

Did I mention that I have a store in Napa Valley California that carries my scarves? Yea, I even went on a little "business trip" to deliver them. What better place to be as the weather in Seattle turned colder, and the rain came down - it was 80ยบ in Napa, the grapes were being harvested, and I had a companion who was willing to drive me around in exchange for lunch at the CIA and some red wine. Aaaahhh, if only every day could be a business trip like that :)

Muse Napavalley is a Yarn & Art store. It is located at 1309 Main St. in St. Helena - same building as the Hotel St. Helena.

Haute Goat is back at Monster in Ballard

See, I'm still getting caught up. Monster Art & Clothing in Ballard is carrying scarves again this year, as well as arm/leg warmers and cuffs. If you haven't been to Monster, you must check it out. They carry awesome local designers and artists work - like Imps and Monsters (great screen printed t-shirts), Shabby Knapsack (those awesome wrap skirts made from sweaters), Sock It To Me socks, and Fairy Tale Fibers wool hoods - not to mention one of my favorite artists, SoopaJDelux

Sweet Petula Handmade Trunk Show 10/9 & 10/10

Seattle Metropolitan Magazine blog mentioned the Trunk Show I will be having at Sweet Petula in Pioneer Square on Fri & Sat 10/9 & 10/10. Come by and say Hi! There will be other sellers there:

Sweet Anthem Perfume - hmmm, perfume
My Little Sunshine - nature inspired jewelry
Haute Goat - reclaimed cashmere
Gabriel's Aunt - soy & essential oil candles
Sweet Petula - soaps & bath stuff

The first 20 people each day get goodie bags. I donated pins to the bags - yes, cashmere pins - so you know I'm not joking when I say "goodie"!

Art Zone with Nancy Guppy

Ok, it's a whirlwind - posts will be ultra-short for the next few days, just to get caught up...

I was on "Art Zone with Nancy Guppy" last week (Oct. 2, 2009). It's on the Seattle Channel - channel 21. Here's the link - I'm on at 21:24

Queen Anne Artwalk

I'm VERY excited to be participating in the Queen Anne Artwalk this year. I will be wearing 2 hats - both my Art By Norm painters hat and my Ms. Haute Goat cashmere hat. I just got back from setting up and I must say the paintings look great next to the scarves - and all the wonderful bright colored yarns!

Stop by and say Hi. I brought a lot of stuff that is not available in stores - like pins, Moleskine notebook covers and Little Hoots. I will be giving a short talk at 6:30pm. The artwalk starts at 3pm and goes on until the store closes at 8:30pm. You can also see 2 of my favorite artists - Scott Ward will be at Chocolopolis and Nikki McClure will be at Eat Local.
